Cool Cool
dogdog We all know that we need
to keep our pets cool in
summer. Can you help
Daisy find her way through
the wood? She'd love to
get in that stream!
All mixed up!We've mixed up 15 animal species
that have two-word names - like the
red fox. Can you work out all 15?
Here's a clue: they can all be found
in the UK in the summer. 1. .................... ....................

How many legs?
You'll see all sorts of creatures when you're
out and about over summer. Here's a challenge!
See if you can work out how many legs each
group of animals has.
A. Some sea creatures - such as prawns, crabs
and lobsters - are called 'decapod crustaceans',
which means they have 10 legs each.
Can you work out how many
legs 12 crabs would have?
B. Did you know that all insects
have six legs? That includes ants,
bees, butterflies and ladybirds.
There are two ants, one bee,
three ladybirds and one butterfly
in your garden - can you add up
how many legs they have in total?
C. Woodlice may look like insects but they have
14 legs (not six) and are actually 'isopods',
another kind of crustacean.
Three woodlice have 42 legs
between them. If one woodlouse
moves away to find food, how many
legs do the other pair have?
D. There are around 46,700
species of spider in the world.
Did you know that they're all part
of the 'arachnid' family and all
have the same number of legs?
If 8 spiders have 64 legs in total,
how many legs does each spider have?
Why are fish
so clever?
They live
in schools!
